Vesuvius is my favourite Italian restaurant in Maidstone, no matter what you order, it is delicious.

Sean and I went with our friends who are vegan and non of us had any problems finding something to eat on the menu as they cater for everyone, including gluten-free.

Starter - Bianchetti Fritti - Deep-fried whitebait fish in breadcrumbs; served with tartare mayo, garnish and a lemon wedge.

I don't normally go for whitebait but I wanted to try something different and I am so glad I did as these were amazing! They were so full of flavour and tasty, especially with the tartare mayo which tasted homemade.

Mains - Spaghetti Ai Frutti Di Mare - Spaghetti cooked with tomato sauce with mixed seafood (clams, mussels, prawns and calamari) with white wine, chilli, oil, garlic and parsley. I went with the gluten free option.

This was one of the mains where you could have a gluten-free option, which is the main reason I picked it, I sometimes have a bad reaction to gluten so getting this super yummy sounding dish and then finding out it was gluten-free was fantastic.

I absolutly loved this dish, I wasn't sure about clams as I couldn't remember ever trying them but believe me, everything on the plate was eaten and thoroughly enjoyed.

I took all the mussels out the shells before I started eating so I could dig in and not worry about chewing on a bit of shell, which I have done before lol. It was all cooked perfectly and it was very filling. I must admit, I wasn't expecting the king prawn on top to still have it's shell, I can't peel them to save my life so Sean had to sort that out for me.

The dishes may not have been huge but they were packed with so much goodness that I had to turn down having a dessert.

It is a family run business and they know what they are doing. They look after you from the second you walk through the door, until you leave. Nothing is too much for them and if you have any questions, they will gladly go through them with you.

If you are looking to have dinner here, make sure you booked, especially at weekends because it was packed the whole time we were there and we were there from 7pm to 11pm on a Saturday night.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to eat out in Maidstone and fancy some amazing Italian food.
